Gaming News

First up, Super Smash Bros. Brawl. We've been waiting for news of a new character for what seems like forever, and Sakurai finally delivered on Wednesday, revealing Captain Olimar and his Pikmin friends as a playable character. I've never played Pikmin, but I've heard good things. I don't know how much he'll fit into Smash but, if Sonic can spin dash around, one couldn't really claim Olimar would be out of place. Quite frankly, I'm tired of speculating about this game. I'm just ready for the damn thing to drop. Sakurai's updates will probably end shortly, what with the game's release in 日本 in two weeks. Then, I'm sure the entire roster will be leaked, and at least the guessing game will be over. And exactly one month from today, I will hold in my hand what I already know will be my game of the year. Ordinarily, I couldn't justify salivating at the mouth over the same game for two years. But, I know I'll love it because I still play and adore Melee. Tired of waiting, though...

In other gaming news, I read yesterday that Darth Vader and Yoda of Star Wars fame will be included in the next installment of Soul Calibur. Pretty surprising, but not all that exciting for me as I don't own a PS3 or XBox 360, have no plans of getting either of them, and the game is not coming to Wii. Which sort of sucks; didn't the GameCube version of SC2 sell the most?? And Link was by far the best console-exclusive character. Speaking of console-exclusives, apparently Vader will only be breathing heavily for PS3 owners and only XBox 360 users will get to hear that precious Yoda-speak. Which, to me, definitely sucks. But, whatevs. Anything dropping after February 10th on any system is not really on my radar.
